TGIF, Philadelphia! It’s that time again for Philly 5 Friday… We’re giving you FIVE reasons why Philadelphia is just THAT awesome!

We cannot believe it’s already the 4th of July next week. It’s incredible how time flies so fast. Living in the city of independence and brotherly love, Philadelphians sure know how to celebrate their nation’s holiday.

Here are 5 events going on next week and another 5 reasons why this city is so great to live in!

Wawa is the title sponsor of Welcome America! Celebrating their fourth year, they’ll be featuring seven days of exciting activities and events from July 1st through July 7th.
Philadelphians and visitors from all over will find Wawa products, associates, and special events almost everywhere they turn. Wawa will host a number of special signature events designed to join Wawa’s traditions and history with the nation’s birthday bash, including free admission to the Constitution Center, parades, entertainment, and of course lots of delicious Wawa samples! July 3rd at Susquehanna Bank Center, 102.9 MGK presents the 12th Annual Let Freedom Rock Fest starring 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Famers – HEART with very special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience.  Both bands will join forces for a 30 minute Led Zeppelin encore to close the show. The Philly 4th of July Jam features performances from The Roots, John Mayer, Jill Scott, Demi Lovato, Ne-Yo, Grace Potter and J. Cole, along with Ben Taylor and other surprise guests on Eakins Oval in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The event is FREE and directly following the performances, a great display of fireworks will set off that never disappoints!

 

On Tuesday, July 2 at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra will hold a free neighborhood concert on the Riverstage, followed by a landslide fireworks salute. The concert begins at 8pm and the fireworks display will follow directly afterwards.

 

Taste of Philadelphia Concert and Adventure Aquarium Waterfront Fireworks Spectacular will take place Saturday, July 6 at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing. Fireworks will go off immediately following final performance, between 9:30-10 p.m. The second day of the three-day Taste of Philadelphia celebration features an evening of live music, including a special performance from Marsha Ambrosius, followed by the Adventure Aquarium Waterfront Fireworks Spectacular.
