Fun things to do in Philadelphia this Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day weekend is quickly approaching. Here are just some ideas of fun things to do in the city. If you’re not headed to the shore or outside Philly, be sure to check these out!

Hidden City Festival Block Party

This block party will kick off at 12th and Wood Streets in the Callowhill neighborhood, from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 under the Reading Viaduct. Entertainment will be provided by Hank & Cupcakes, City Rain, JD Adrian Hardy, DJ Lina Luv, and the New Sound Brass Band. Food trucks (including The Dapper Dog, Spot Burgers, Kami, Hot Tea and Little Baby’s Ice Cream) will be on site serving up a variety of sweet and savory fare, and craft beer will be sold on site.
Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased here.  (You can also buy $15 tickets at the door). All proceeds benefit the Hidden City Philadelphia Festival 2013.

2013 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships at Lincoln Financial Field

Some of college lacrosse’s best and brightest are headed to Lincoln Financial Field for the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships, May 25- May27th. Outside of the stadium, the free LaXperience Fan Fest invites fans to show off their lacrosse skills, meet some of the tournament’s star athletes and enjoy food and drinks.

Fireworks and Fountains at Longwood Gardens

Time for some oohs and aahs! Longwood Gardens presents their Fireworks & Fountains kickoff show this Saturday, May 25th at 9:15pm. . The show is coordinated to music by Elton John including Philadelphia Freedom.
Tickets to the event are available for advance purchasing here. They include all day admission to the Gardens as well.

Memorial Day Weekend at Franklin Square

From Saturday, May 25 to Monday, May 27, Franklin Square hosts family-friendly festivities for all to enjoy. Franklin Square, one of Philadelphia’s five original public squares laid out by William Penn in his original plan for the city, has undergone a dramatic renovation. The park now boasts several family-friendly attractions, including a miniature golf course, classic carousel, burger joint, storytelling bench, picnic area and more.

Memorial Day Weekend at Chaddsford Winery

From Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27, from 12pm-6pm, Chaddsford Winery will be providing days of wine, music, food and fun! A $10 wine tasting in the cellar is available and includes dry and sweet wine tasting. Sangria slushies will be on the menu at the outdoor bar. Seating is first come first serve, but personal blankets or chairs are welcomed!
