Save yourself the long drive in traffic down the shore. There are PLENTY of fun things to do in the city this weekend! Here are some of your many options:
Grab a partner and hit the dance floor during this weekend’s 4th Annual Philadelphia International Tango Festival. Instructors, DJs and performers from all over the country—and the world—will be leading workshops and social dances at Ruba Club and Philadelphia Argentine Tango School starting Friday, May 23 until Monday, May 26. Whether you’re a newbie or experienced pro, there are workshops available for all skill levels. Online registration is closed, but you can still register at the door. Classes begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The Sundrop Music and Arts Festival, held at The Fire on West Girard, is a multi-genre music festival on Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May 25. On Friday, music starts at 9 p.m. with rapper Voss headlining. Both Saturday and Sunday’s shows begin at 2 p.m. outdoors, along with the arts fair (and it’s free!) and then the party moves indoors at 9 p.m. with reggae group Leana Song headlining Saturday and bluesy-rock band Shilpa Ray headlining Sunday. The evening shows are for 21-and-over audiences.
Starting Thursday, May 22 at 5 p.m., PHAIR Open Air Market at The Oval brings food trucks, local brewers, musicians and vendors to the Parkway through Saturday, May 24. Throughout the whole market, you’ll be able to play games like chess, checkers and cornhole, grab a drink at the Local Libations Lounge and get a bite to eat one (or more) of the many food trucks. Special programming on Saturday, like the clay animation studio and face painting station is perfect for the kids. Thursday and Friday’s markets are open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday runs from noon until 7 p.m.
From now until Sunday, June 1 the largest outdoor horse show in the country makes its 2014 run at the Devon Horseshow Grounds in Devon, PA. That’s right, the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair is back with a slew of competitions and new additions to the shopping at the Country Fair. This weekend, the show opens at 8 a.m. except for Sunday, May 25, when the gates open at 11 a.m.
Enjoyable fitness and healthy living is the name of the game in Camden, NJ this weekend at Camden Children’s Garden’s Fit and Fun Festival. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, families can learn how to incorporate nutritious foods into their diets as well as crafts and a veggie planting activity.
Happy Memorial Day weekend, Philly! Enjoy 🙂
