With summer closely approaching, we must take full advantage of the beautiful weather outside. Lucky for us, Philadelphia offers a lot of great activities in the summer months. From beer festivals by the Delaware, to glorified happy hours, to night markets throughout the city, Philadelphia is a wonderful city to be living in now! Here are 5 awesome events to look forward to. A few of them are THIS weekend, so be sure to check them out.
This weekend! May 18th & 19th
America’s oldest outdoor market will welcome the city of Philadelphia to its annual blockbuster event. Running on 9th Street from Fitzwater to Federal streets in Bella Vista and East Passyunk Avenue, the streets will be blocked off and filled with vendors serving up fresh produce, meats and seafood. Full list of vendors can be found here. The block party runs from 11am-6pm and all ages are welcome. Aside from good eats, live music entertainment and various activities such as face painting, magic tricks, and special guest appearances will take place.
Next one is June 20th!
Night Market Philadelphia is the city’s premier street food festival, a roving food event spotlighting Philly’s best ethnic and regional restaurants and food trucks. Inspired by Asia’s lively outdoor markets, our events celebrate up-and-coming neighborhoods and showcase Philadelphia’s diverse food and drinks and vibrant arts and culture scene. The first event took place last night, May 16th in the Art Museum neighborhood on Fairmout. The turnout was a massive success and tons of people enjoyed a great evening of live music, delicious food, and crisp beer. The next market takes place on June 20th from 6pm-10pm at West Oak Lane.
May 19th 8:30am- 12:30pm
Thousands of people join together annually for Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s outdoor yoga class and Healthy Living Expo. New and accomplished “yogis” can participate in Yoga on the Steps: Philadelphia to fundraise efforts that directly impact and empower all women affected by breast cancer. Taking place right on the Art Museum steps, this is a great event getting people together to focus on health and help raise awareness for a great cause.
September 21st 1:00pm-5:00pm
