Headhouse Crab and Oyster Co. Opens on South Street
Headhouse Crab and Oyster Co., is now open on South Street with food prepared by Chef Mike Stollenwerk.
Flanked in reclaimed wood and trimmed in nautical ephemera, the casual restaurant and bar features a large, semi-circular bar near the entrance, dramatically soaring high ceilings, and stone floors. The addition of wooden picnic tables summons an unmistakable seashore vibe throughout the space.
The menu offers raw bar options including daily selections of oysters sourced from the East and West coasts, chilled lobster salad, Topneck and Cherrystone clams, and you-peel shrimp.
New England-style boils bring heaps of blue claw, king, snow and Dungeness crabs to the table. A traditional version comes with lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels.
The section of the menu that falls under the heading “Hand Helds” offers everything from a lobster gilled cheese sandwich and fried oyster tacos to a smoked salmon Reuben and a La Frieda burger.
Plus, there’s the obligatory crabs, crab cakes and lobster. For the token landlubber, there’s also a Vegas strip steak, dry rubbed beef ribs, and boneless chicken thighs.
At the bar, local and craft beers and cocktails made with as many local ingredients as possible are available at the bar.
Going forward, weekly specials will include Taco Tuesdays with $3 tacos, and buck-a-shuck Wednesdays.

Open: Tuesdays through Wednesdays, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturdays, noon to 11 p.m.; Sundays, noon to 10 p.m.
