During this holiday season the vast traditions and new events in Philadelphia are sure to make your days merry and bright!
This years festivities include ice skating at both the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penns Landing and The Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Plaza, Macy’s annual Christmas Light Show, and the German inspired Christmas Village in Love Park, just to name a few.

Macy’s Christmas Light Show at Macy’s Center City
November 27 – December 31, 2015
The Macy’s Christmas Light Show at Macy’s Center City is a Philadelphia tradition since 1956. The show includes 100,000 LED lights, narration by Julie Andrews and sounds from the Wanamaker Organ. Performances take place at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. everyday, except Christmas.
The Comcast Holiday Spectacular
November 24, 2015 – January 3, 2016
In front of the Comcast Experience video wall plays one of the world’s highest resolution LED, The Comcast Holiday Spectacular. The free 15-minute show includes dancers from the Pennsylvania Ballet dancing to music from The Nutcracker, a magical sleigh that floats over the Philadelphia countryside and actors from the historic Walnut Street Theatre. You can catch any of these shows at the top of the hour from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (excluding 5 p.m. on weekdays).
Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest
November 27, 2015 – March 6, 2016
Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest transforms Penn’s Landing into a Winter Wonderland. Winterfest houses an Olympic-size skating rink that overlooks the Delaware River. It also has a ski chalet-style lodge and winter garden with recycled shipping containers. There is a heated tent, holiday trees, fire pits and plenty of cozy seating. This year, there is a new area that will include much more seating (both indoors and out), a 360-degree deck around the skating rink, expanded food options from Garces Group and others, like hot chocolates, holiday treats and much more.
The Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park
November 13, 2015 – February 28, 2016
Have you ever wanted to go ice skating in the heart of Philadelphia? Well you can now at Dilworth Park. This rink, offers skyline views and is open to skaters of all levels and ages. This season there will be a Rothman Cabin which is a heated tent located at the tip of the ice rink. This cabin will offer skaters the chance to warm up with food and drinks from Garces Events including toasty hot chocolate, coffee, burgers, fries and more.
The Christmas Village in Philadelphia
November 21, 2015 – December 27, 2015
Philadelphia’s German-style Christmas Village has become one of the town’s favorite traditions. At the Christmas village shoppers can find popular Christmas gifts from Germany. This include glass ornaments, music boxes, nutcrackers and more. Shoppers can also expect vendors serving up hot mulled wine, gingerbread and bratwursts to keep shoppers warm and satisfied.
Franklin Square Holiday Festival & Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show
November 12 – December 31, 2015
Franklin Square Holiday Festival featuring Electrical Spectacle: A Holiday Light Show will make you want to deck the halls. The show runs every 30 minutes between 4:30pm and 8pm and showcases over 50,000 lights choreographed to holiday music. This is just one part of the Franklin Square Holiday Festival, featuring nearly seven weeks of attractions and activities, including visits from Santa, rides on the holiday train and carousel, seasonal treats at Ben’s Bites & Brews and even mini-golf with warming stations.
Neighborhood Lights in South Philadelphia
Just a few blocks off of East Passyunk Avenue, the 1600 block of South 13th Street is known in Philadelphia as the Miracle on South 13th Street. These spectacular lights, hung on neighborhood homes have been a holiday lights destination for over dozens of years. This is a MUST SEE!
Reading Terminal Market Holiday Railroad
November 27 – December 31, 2015
Reading Terminal Market sets up an impressive 500-square-foot holiday railroad in its piano court every holiday season. Guests marvel over the 14 working train lines and miniature scenery of Center City and the countryside of Pennsylvania.
SugarHouse New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront

What better way to bring in the New Year then with SugarHouse Casino’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront?! This event features two spectacular shows at 6 p.m. and again at midnight. The main attraction on New Year’s Eve draws thousands of people to the Delaware River Waterfront each year. The fireworks are conveniently located within a short walk of Old City, Society Hill and South Street, Penn’s Landing and becomes a festive party with revelers of all ages delighting in a breathtaking fireworks display.
SugarHouse Casino Mummers Parade
